INDUCTION TRAINING OF MBALE MCDF

In Uganda, Municipal Development Forum (MDF) have emerged as a critical platform for government and community to come together to voice issues and come up with solutions together. They are platforms established at the City/ Municipal level for all stakeholders in the urban sector to meet regularly to exchange views, debate priorities and agree on common actions on matters pertaining to the urban sector.

MDF are intended to bring together individuals and representatives of governmental and non-governmental institutions, organizations of the urban poor, Professional institutions, Cultural institutions, Religious institutions as well as voluntary organizations to discuss matters pertaining to urban development at the municipal and other levels. The MDF have major roles in enhancing broad-based consultations on matters pertaining to the urban sector that will offer all the stakeholders an opportunity to contribute to the planning process in the MCs, enhancing sharing of experiences, and facilitating access to information.

As a key player in the human settlements sector in Uganda, the network has been working with Municipal development forums to influence decent human settlements decisions in different urban areas. The network uses the platform provided by Municipal development forums (MDFs) to reach out to the communities and different stakeholders to articulate and dialogue on issues affecting human settlements in Uganda.

A training in Human Settlements and Physical Planning was conducted for the newly elected executive of Mbale to equip them with the relevant knowledge to enable them to execute their mandate.
