Kamuli: Grace’s Story (case story)

Through The Women’s Spaces Project, SSA paralegal training is not only changing the mindsets of local communities, but it also changes the lives of the paralegals that lead sensitizations for their neighbors. Grace Katushabe is a paralegal from Kamuli Municipality. Since receiving the training, she has been sensitized on Uganda law. In turn, she has come to understand the importance of women’s rights to land and other assets, as well as how to implement it in her own life to empower herself and her family.

“I learned that the girl-child is relevant, and they can inherit. In my family, there are six girls. We weren’t guaranteed anything, but now that I know the law, I can ensure my sisters and I will inherit assets.”
